My Story and Gratitude to My Mentors ~
For over 30 years I have had a daily practice of getting outside for a walk in the morning, guided by the needs of my beloved dogs, to a spot where I say hello and thank you to the sun, moon, stars, plants, trees, creatures and elements. As a child I learned from my anthropologist father that indigenous people worldwide honored the earth, sun, moon and stars daily and throughout the seasons because they believed their prayers and rituals were essential to the well being of the more than human world and to their tribe. Now more than ever, it is clear that indigenous people were right and in order to survive we must get back to a living daily practice of honoring all that has created us and continues to support us even as we seem so intent on destruction!
Over the years my personal practice has evolved to a simple 7 Direction movement exploration that also dives deep into one's personal journey through life. This work is based on the teachings of indigenous elders as well as Bill Plotkin, Sky Otter, Joanna Macy, Pamela England, Humanhood Dance, Tai Chi, and Parts Work and Buddhist and Jungian Philosophy.
